Honorary Commissioner of the Festival of the Tartans 2010

As the current President of the Saint Andrew’s Society of Pictou County, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to beautiful New Glasgow to enjoy the 2010 Festival of the Tartans.

The festival has been a proud part of the summer celebrations here since 1958. Celebrating our Scottish heritage and helping to keep the traditions of our past alive, Festival of the Tartans continues to open a doorway to the past through the weekend’s activities. Dance, cuisine, music and more, all rooted in Scottish tradition will be on display and here for you to enjoy.

I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating with us this weekend.

Sincerely,

Stirling MacLean

As President of the Festival of the Tartans and Highland Games, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our cultural festival!

I am very proud to be a part of a committee with dedicated volunteers who cherish the Scottish heritage and culture and we are proud to be able to showcase that this week.

Be sure to embrace the events that are taking place throughout the week that highlight the Scottish traditions such as highland dancing, heavy weight demonstrations, and not to mention the pipe and drums.

Our committee is very excited to welcome Ashley MacIsaac as our entertainment for the Concert under the Stars on Saturday evening. It is a great night for the whole family to enjoy.

I have no doubt this week will present a fun, cultural experience to be enjoyed by not only the Scottish, but the Scottish at heart!
